Tribute

Tyrone Bovorn Ramiscal Lamyaithong was born on November 9, 1992, in Logan, West Virginia, a son of Piya and Aleli Lamyaithong.

Raised in Man, West Virginia, Tyrone graduated from Man High School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the West Virginia Institute of Technology on December 15, 2015.

Tyrone valued education, but his life’s work was shaped by his call to serve.

He enlisted in the West Virginia National Guard, where he served honorably from January 22, 2013, to September 19, 2025. Afterward, he volunteered his service to the Ukrainian Military in October 2025.

Tyrone proudly served in the West Virginia National Guard, where his life’s work was defined by honor, discipline, and service. He completed numerous training programs and earned many commendations and medals in recognition of his dedication, leadership, and courage.

During his time in the West Virginia National Guard, Tyrone served honorably in the 1-201st Field Artillery Battalion. His duty positions included Ammo Vehicle Driver and Gunner with A Battery, 1-201st FA, and Gunner and Howitzer Section Chief with C Battery, 1-201st FA. SSG Lamyaithong’s willingness to serve also led him to volunteer for deployment with the 113th FA, NCARNG in 2019 as a Team Leader. At every opportunity, SSG Lamyaithong led from the front with compassion, empathy, and distinction.

We share our son Tyrone with all of you so that his bravery and sacrifice will never be forgotten and will always be honored. We respect his decision, his dedication, and his commitment to his beloved West Virginia National Guard and to his purpose in life — to serve his country, the United States of America, and to serve in defense of freedom and the independence of Ukraine.

John 15:13
“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”

Our beloved son Tyrone “LAM” was killed in action on January 19, 2026, in the Donetsk region. He faithfully served and fulfilled his military oath and duty to the Ukrainian people in defense of Ukraine, its independence, and its freedom.
